Week One (day 5 | day 6)

This week we will focus on the software tools to introduce, enhance and/or expand learning IN and OUT of the classroom.


Standards Focus: Are you in Focus

V.  PRODUCTIVITY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE.
Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice. Teachers:
  1. use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
  2. continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
  3. apply technology to increase productivity.
  4. use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the larger community in order to nurture student learning.

VI.  SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES.
Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of technology in PK-12 schools and apply those principles in practice. Teachers:

  1. model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.
  2. apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
  3. identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity
  4. promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
  5. facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.

  • Work in groups to investigate a WEB 2.0 Tool. In Word, give a brief description & an potential use with student ~ Submit in Webct in add to be google doc's
  • A tour of Google Doc

  • Using the Excel Trackit file to Gathering the evidence and our thoughts. (example)

Read through Teacher Fair Use web site. As you are reading, think how your new knowledge of fair use will effect the way use different copyrighted resources in your classroom.

III. TEACHING, LEARNING, AND THE CURRICULUM.

Teachers implement curriculum plans that include methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning. Teachers:

  • facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards and student technology standards.

  • use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse needs of students.

  • apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.

  • manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment

Reflecting and Sharing Lesson

In Groups of four,  each student will present their Google Page with a link to their Inspiration Lesson (about 5 minutes) to the group.  Provide feedback from a student perspective to the presenter on what was affective and what could be enhanced.
